What cricket auction software does

A player auction is how most leagues build fair teams: every team gets the same purse, players come up one by one, and team owners bid until one wins. Cricket auction software keeps the score for you. It tracks every team's remaining purse and squad, checks that each bid is valid, records who bought whom and for how much, and shows it all live on a screen or stream.

Cricket Auction Live does this in the browser. The organiser sets up the tournament, the auctioneer runs bidding from a control panel, and everyone else watches a broadcast-style overlay on a projector, a TV, or a YouTube live stream.

Why not just use Excel, paper or WhatsApp?

Spreadsheets work for ten players. At fifty or two hundred, live, with team owners arguing over every bid, things slip:

  • Purse mistakes. One wrong formula or a sale typed into the wrong row, and a team overspends without anyone noticing until the end.
  • Rule disputes. Was the minimum raise 5 or 10 at this price? Does this team already have the maximum overseas players? Software enforces the rules the same way every time.
  • Nothing to watch. Players and families want to see the auction. A shared spreadsheet is not a show.
  • Slow. Typing every bid by hand takes minutes per player. With keyboard shortcuts it takes seconds.

Features to look for (and what this software does)

Teams and purses

Every team gets the same purse, in money or points. The software should show each team's remaining purse after every sale, and block bids a team cannot afford. Here, teams have their own name, short name, colours and logo, and the purse is enforced on every bid.

Players, base prices and categories

Each player needs a base price (the opening bid) and the details the audience cares about: role, batting and bowling style, jersey number, photo. You can add your own fields (age group, department, village) and import everything from a CSV file.

Online player registration

Instead of collecting details on WhatsApp, share one registration link. Players fill in their details and photo on their phone, pay any entry fee by UPI straight to you and enter the transaction ID, and you approve each one into the player list with a base price.

Bid increments

Real auctions raise in steps that grow with the price, for example +5 until 100, +10 until 500, +20 after that. You define the tiers once and the control panel always offers the next valid amount.

Squad rules

Maximum players per team and maximum overseas (or guest) players per team are enforced automatically, so no team can end up over the limit.

Icon players and multiple rounds

Marquee players can be pre-assigned to teams at a fixed price before bidding starts. Players who go unsold return in a later round, optionally at a reduced base price.

A live overlay for the stream

A 1920×1080 overlay with a transparent background shows the player card, the current bid and team, team purses and a ticker of sold players, with a SOLD stamp when the hammer falls. You can drag and resize the player card and bid box to fit your camera layout. See the streaming guide.

Undo, pause and exports

Mistakes happen live: undo the last bid, pause, or bring any player from the queue to the block. Afterwards, export results, team spending and the full bid log as CSV, and share a public results page with every squad.

How it works

  1. Create the auction. Give it a name and logo, choose money or points, and set the team purse, squad limits and bid increments.
  2. Add teams and players. Type them in or import a CSV. Upload player photos and team logos; they are resized automatically.
  3. Go live. Open the control panel on the auctioneer's laptop. Press N for the next player, 1–9 to bid for a team, S to sell, U for unsold, Z to undo. The overlay, the live view and the results page update instantly.
  4. Share the results. Send the results link to team owners, or export everything to Excel.

Who it's for

  • Local and village premier leagues that want an IPL-style auction night streamed for the whole community.
  • Corporate cricket tournaments, where department teams bid for colleagues and the auction is half the fun.
  • College and school leagues and alumni tournaments.
  • Box cricket and turf leagues with short squads and quick auctions.
  • Fantasy drafts and other sports: kabaddi, football, badminton and volleyball leagues use the same format.

Frequently asked questions

Is there free cricket auction software?+

Yes. Cricket Auction Live is free while in early access: create an account, add your teams and players, and run the auction from your browser. There is nothing to install.

Can I run a cricket auction on my phone?+

Yes. The setup pages and the public results page work on phones. For running the live auction, a laptop is more comfortable because the control panel uses keyboard shortcuts (1–9 to bid for a team, S to sell).

Can we use points instead of money?+

Yes. Choose Points when you create the auction, or set any symbol and unit, for example ₹ and Lakhs, or 1,000 points per team.

How do I show the auction live on YouTube?+

Copy your auction's overlay link into OBS as a Browser Source (1920×1080) and stream to YouTube as usual. Every bid, SOLD stamp and team purse updates on screen within a fraction of a second.

Can I import players from Excel or Google Sheets?+

Yes. Download the CSV template, fill it in Excel or Google Sheets (name, role, jersey number, base price and any custom fields), save as CSV and import it. Teams can be imported the same way.

Can players register themselves online?+

Yes. Open the registration form and share its link. Players add their details and photo from their phone, pay any entry fee by UPI directly to the organiser, and the organiser approves them into the auction.

Does it work for kabaddi, football or fantasy drafts?+

Yes. The auction rules are sport-agnostic: rename or remove the cricket fields (speciality, batting style) and add your own.
